Miki Shima O.M.D. Traditional Acupuncture, Herbology & Oriental Medicine

Joseph Adams, L.Ac., MTOM, CMT

Joe AdamsJoseph is one of a few second generation American acupuncturists. He brings a rich history of lifelong learning into his practice, often calling upon the stories about special functions of herbs or unique needling techniques that were passed down to him.

Working collaboratively with both Western physicians and chiropractors, Joseph utilized his knowledge of structural anatomy and orthopedic tests to develop potent Oriental medical interventions for treating sports injuries, chronic pain and arthritis. Joseph specializes in orthopedic issues, acute and chronic pain, and in clinical practice, gained expertise addressing many women’s health issues.

The ability to address acute symptoms, and also provide long-term treatment solutions, forms the foundation from which Joseph approaches patients. Through insightful diagnostics and understanding the nature of constitutional imbalances, patients receive powerful treatments and tools for achieving and maintaining optimum health.

Joseph Adams L.Ac., MTOM, CMT earned his Masters Degree in Oriental Medicine at Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, California. During this time, he also received orthopedic and pulse diagnosis training from Dr. William Morris, President Emeritus of the American Acupuncture Association. After serving as Dr. Morris’s senior student, Joseph was entrusted with the mission of teaching the specialized pulse-taking lineages he had mastered.

In 2006, Joseph was nominated to the California Oriental Medical Associations Board of Directors and is also proud to serve as an editor and contributing author to The American Acupuncturist.
